What are (Fairy )Tales Retellings ?

Fairy Tales Retellings are all about sharing a new point of view or planting a twist to a story everyone knows ( or is 100% sure to know everything about it). It can focus on a minor/ undeveloped character from the original material, offer a darker version of it, or raise a question that no one thought about.

Examples of fairy tale retelling are listed here or can be found in the subpages.

Serena Valentino's Villains Series

Retellings of the Disney movies from the point of view of the bad guys, telling their dark and complicated backstories with a set of strong female characters playing a role in their accomplishments and ruins. Cautionnary tales with scenes or chapters sometimes as much violent as the Original Grimm Brother's stories.

Best enjoyed when read in the following order:

Fairest of All, The Beast Within, Poor Unfortunate Soul, Mistress of All Evil, Mother Knows Best, The Odd Sisters, Evil Thing and Cold Hearted.

Scary Faerie Tales Series by M.A Kersh

Find yourselves caught in a world where fairies play with people's fate, where women need to learn how to fend for themselves and where not all small boys are born good. This is a universe where nothing can be taken for granted, as actions have consequences and one way or another, everything is as linked as the sliver threads of destiny. A magical universe where all your beloved characters are revealing their true colors...and nothing will ever be the same.

Need to be absolutely read in the following order: Blood in the Water, Hearts in the Looking Glass and Hidden in the Woods.
