What are Memoirs?

Historical and literary texts, memoirs are most of the time written in the first person and defines themselves as tell-all about the life and time of a person. Collectively they are set of memories mingled together, though some can be chronological starting from the cradle and ending up with the casket. They are the striking balance between autobiography and history and can contain pictures, news papers articles, or letters.

Some minor examples of memoirs, apart from those mentioned in the eponym section of Bookworm reviews:

Si esto es un hombre ( Primo Levi)

Becoming ( Michelle Obama)

Het Achterhui/ The Diary of A Young Girl ( Anne Frank)

An American Childhood ( Annie Dillard)

Obviously, there are more, so go forth and find memoirs about people that inspired or intrigued you.
