What is the concept of an horror story?

Horror novels can be psychological or fictional, tackling issues from childhood or society that are family rooted within it such as abuse.

Its main goal is to scare, chock and sometimes offers a reflection on the nature and origin of traumas.

Whether in Greek literature or Gothic fiction, it was all about suspense and mythical creatures as well as magical artefacts that were supposed to influence the mind and spirit.

The greatest authors of Horror stories/novels are the following: Mary Shelley, Bram Docker, Stephen King, Anne Rice, Edgard Allan Poe.

Some combine horror with others genres in their work: Maxime Chattam, Serena Valentino, Joe Hill
